My friend is very much not a car enthusiast, being a fan of an automatic gearbox like some sort of heathen. That aside, they want a fun hatchback under $15,000 AUD.
Thus far they’ve been looking at R56 Minis to little success as we’re in a state without a whole lot of used inventory. Similar problem with the also-fun Fiat 500. Suzuki Swifts and Mazda 3s only promise to bore to death.
Are there any fun cars in this segment I’m missing? Gotta be relatively modern to get secured finance, generally less than 12 years old.

Convert him to Opponism on threat of death.
Worked reasonably well for the Spanish.

Versa note.
That’s not fun, you say? Yeah. Fun cars are reserved for fun people. If you shun the holy third pedal, you are not a fun person. Enjoy your note, friend of whatuptkhere!

Kia Soul. Seriously. You got those there, right?

Did you guys not get the Swift Sport? That’s quite fun, if a bit dreary on the inside.

We did! That’s about the only other remotely fun-ish (in an aesthetic way) car I can think of in that segment. Maybe the Nissan Juke but I hated mine.

It drives pretty nice, too. It’s a product of Kia’s “something to prove” era, and it shows.

A fun small car with an automatic gearbox? In Australia? You’ve got me fucked there.
Best guess is a VW Polo but they are a bit Teutonic on the inside. Skoda Fabia might be down there as well by now. Could also get a decent Fiesta in there as well? Outside stupidity is a Hyundai Velostar.

I think you know the answer:
